Chris grew up in a car enthusiast family. His dad was President of the Riverside Foreign Car Club in the late 1950s and knew Dan Gurney, Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles, and John R Bond. Both of his parents were active autocrossers in their Triumph TR3, and his childhood home was full of their trophies. Chris' dad never took any of their cars to a mechanic. He rebuilt hydraulic cylinders, gearboxes, and ported his own cylinder heads. Chris thought all this was normal.
Chris began reading Road & Track, Car and Driver, and other car magazines from an early age. He has never stopped reading, and the material has gotten ever more technical.
When Chris bought his first car (a 1972 FIAT 128) he also bought a repair manual and did all of his own maintenance and repairs. When He began racing an Alfa Romeo with the SCCA, he did all of the mechanical work and built his own engines. It was during this period that he developed lasting friendships within the Alfa Romeo community.
Chris has worked in the automotive industry as management in dealerships, independent repair shops, and high end restoration shops.
Chris particularly enjoys hearing the stories that make these cars special to there owners.
